Nancy Guthrie is running for a sixth term to the West Virginia House of Delegates. She currently sits on the Finance Committee as the Minority Vice Chair as well as Agriculture and Transportation. She is a member of the Rules Committee. Prior to her service as a member of the West Virginia Legislature, Nancy was a small business owner. Her company, Capitol City Communications specialized in government, media and public relations.
Also of note, Nancy Guthrie served as the state liaison for U.S. Senator Robert C. Byrd and managed his state office during the time he moved from his position as Majority Leader to Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. It was during this time that West Virginia saw unprecedented growth and job creation through public investments in highway, higher education, health care, technology and natural resource management.
Nancy moved to West Virginia in the Winter of 1979 for a job in television, covering the administration of then Governor Jay Rockefeller. She later became the Charleston Bureau Chief. Nancy Guthrie is married to George Guthrie, an attorney. They live in Kanawha City with their Bernese Mountain Dog, Lilly and their cat, Tucky.
Nancy serves as a Board Member of Cabin Creek Clinics, The Kanawha County Humane Association, and the Kanawha City Community Association. She is also a member of the Kanawha City Lions Club.
